Turňa nad Bodvou Cement Plant
The plant in Turňa nad Bodvou employs approximately 160 workers and covers 350,000 m². Construction of the cement plant began in 1969, with production beginning five years later. It primarily produces grey cement, which takes place on a highly modern line capable of producing up to 2,700 tonnes per day.
Similar to the cement plant in Rohožník, the cement plant in Turňa is among the most advanced and modern plans in Slovakia and within Central Europe as a whole.
Modern technology has been in operation since 2004, thanks to which we use alternative fuels in cement production with energy recovery taking place directly in the rotary kiln. This allows us to replace natural energy sources (coal, natural gas) with alternative sources, thus reducing CO2 emissions to some of the lowest in Europe.
We have continued to make investments into the cement plant over the years to increase the quality and efficiency of production and to achieve environmental improvements. Today we can say that this is the first cement plant in Slovakia with the best available technology (BAT/BREF) for cement plants, which are governed by strict European legislation.
